If you suffer from tight shoulders and upper back then this cane is a must for you! You can choose how much pressure to apply and the cane itself is indestructible. My Chiropractor actually tried to break it and ended up pulling a muscle and then had to use the cane to relieve the tightness in the muscle.

The instruction booklet is great and there are many different areas of the body you can use it on but I typically use it for my upper back and shoulders and sometimes my neck. Co-workers usually point and laugh and ask me how much I paid for my "car club" until they try it. As a result four of my friends have bought one too. Well worth the price and it will last you a lifetime. Amazon price beats retail price usually.

Right now, I've got five self massage tools, four of them recommended by therapists: a foam roller, various rubbery balls from sports that I don't play, a plastic roller encased in a handy grip, a vibrating heat pad for car/chairs (not recommended by anybody including me) and the theracane. The theracane is the most effective, period. It is easy to use. The foam roller is an OK. The roller is good for large areas like my back but awkward for many other areas. Unfortunately, it takes such a long time to roll out cramps in my back that I start to pick up cramps in my arms and legs from supporting myself. I compromise by loosening up with a bit of rolling and using the cane for the heavy duty work. The cane lets you really use your muscles to hit spots, even the ones you can reach with your hands, so it is much more effective plus it saves wear and tear on your hands. I received the theracane and started using it immediately with the help of the enclosed booklet.

My stiff knee started to loosen with the first session and six days later I noticed I had stopped limping. I had ordered the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Clare and Amber Davies to go with the cane. It arrived 3 days later because of a long weekend. The book was very helpful. I had a vague idea of which points to start with because I could feel the knot in the big muscle in the calf but the workbook is very precise and now I'm working on some of the smaller hidden muscles.

This theracane was shown to me by my physical therapist while I was undergoing outpatient rehab therapy. It is wonderful in so many ways! It enables you to self-massage areas that are normally out of reach. You know that little kink in your neck or that small spot just out of reach of your fingers on your shoulder area -- well now this piece of equipment is fantastic for anyone recovery from surgery or for anyone who just needs a little help reaching just that right spot. Exercise shown with it has 100 different aspects for the entire body. There is a round ball on the bottom of the can for just the right amount of pressure applied.

Feet, Knees, Legs, arms, back -- you can do it all. The material it is made from makes it durable yet so lightweight for anyone to use. There are handles that are used so it doesn't slip from your grip but those handles serve a dual purpose and later can be used as a guide or a gentle tool for massage. I'd buy these for gifts for friends & family and I would know every person would find a use for this wonderful accessory - whether they need pain relief or help with massaging an area or even help getting dressed - yes I used it to help me put on undergarments when my shoulder was not able to rotate! I can't stress enough how wonderful this item has been in my daily life!
